Leading audit engagements to provide independent assurance and advice on the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management, governance and controls that contribute to the achievement of Department objectives. • Managing audits and reviews end-to-end from planning and scoping, ensuring timescales are achieved and audit processes followed, through to communicating results and closing the engagement. • Provide technical leadership, guidance, support and mentoring to team members so that the performance and professional development of the audit team is sustained and enhanced. • Assisting the MIA with the ongoing development and implementation of a comprehensive, responsive and value adding internal audit function. • Support the Manager, as required, to communicate with senior managers and governance committees. This will include deputising for the MIA and representing the IA team’s work at critical and potentially sensitive meetings with senior managers. • Leading other members of the Internal Audit team on engagements and managing individual engagements undertaken by the co-source internal audit provider. This may include quality reviews of work papers and reports and providing feedback to members of the Internal Audit team. • Assist the MIA with the development of the annual Internal Audit Plan. • Provide expert advice and subject matter expertise on the provision of audit services, to the MIA, to other managers and to auditees. • Contribute to raising the profile of assurance and IA through regular communications and presentations. • Providing advisory input on the establishment of new systems, policies and procedures across the Department.
