ABOUT SALOME WRIGHT

I am a Samoan – born New Zealander who was raised in Mangere, South Auckland and currently pursuing a career in research and policy, with the hopes of assisting in creating and achieving culturally competent and equitable outcomes for Pacific, and other marginalised communities. Growing up in a Samoan family is the foundation on which I am grounded to serve people with cultural values like respect and humility.I am a driven professional dedicated to improving knowledge, building better practices to ensure that equitable outcomes can be achieved for Pacific and other marginalised communities. I have just submitted my thesis completing my master’s degree in arts majoring in Pacific Studies focusing on improving climate change policies in Samoa. I have a wealth of experience in delivering high quality research and policy advice concerning a range of topics but not limited to building social infrastructure, improving access to health, and creating better opportunities in education for Māori and Pacific students. This includes cross – agency and community work and engagements. As part of my professional development, I have been contracted to write literature reviews, conduct research through interviews and surveys, analyse data to help inform policies and practices. I thrive in high - pressure environments which has also allowed me to maintain strong networks and relationships across different organisations and agencies.
