ABOUT SAHITYA RAIPURA
I am currently pursuing an MS in Computer Science at Columbia University. I graduated from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics, a minor in Economics, as well as Honors in Computer Science in May 2022.I spent the last two years working on EthiSim/ PEaRCE, an ethics simulation application for Maning CICS at UMass. The team and I built the application using a Django backend, React frontend, RestfulAPIs, Postgres database, and Apache server, and managed the operation using the Agile methodology. This gives me a very strong understanding of programming languages like Python, Javascript, databases, and everything it takes to take an idea and make it a fully functional deployable application.I also conducted research and wrote my Honors thesis on EthiSim, in which I analysed over 250 students\' data collected by playing through the EthiSim application to see if it had an impact on their ethical awareness. Parts of my research have been used in an NSF proposal submitted to the IUSE program for funding to incorporate the education tool into the CS curriculum.
