ABOUT RYAN ROBERTS

I am the founder of The Journey Home, a pioneering consulting group specializing in designing and implementing psychedelic-assisted therapy (PAT) care models, focusing on serving our Veterans. I am also writing a book and blog titled \"Redefining Trauma.\" The blog can be found on Substack @aveteransjourneyhome. As a USMC combat veteran, I understand the unique challenges and experiences that shape the lives of our heroes. Coupled with deep experience as a senior healthcare executive, The Journey Home is redefining the way we heal Veterans. Why Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy? Psychedelic-assisted therapy is a groundbreaking approach showing remarkable potential in treating mental health conditions. However, it doesn\'t fit neatly into the Western medical model. At The Journey Home, we bridge this gap by integrating proven tools and frameworks that enhance care, improve patient-provider experiences, and, ultimately, cultivate lasting health improvements. Veteran-Centric Approach Our models are developed through extensive research, including hundreds of interviews with Veterans and providers, and are tested in Veteran-specific PAT settings. We employ a trauma-informed approach, interdisciplinary care teams, and community-centered support to ensure our Veterans receive the comprehensive, carefully curated therapy they deserve. Building Blocks of Our Care Models - Trauma-Informed Approach - Interdisciplinary Care Teams - Patient-Centered Care - Military-Specific Provider Training (i.e, understanding moral injury, operator syndrome)- Veteran-Centered Content - Community-Centered Support A Thoughtful Approach to Transitions of Care The healing journey doesn\'t end with the conclusion of a therapy session. Transitioning from a medical to a community model, we accompany our warriors on their path to resilience and recovery. This allows them to continue growing and healing alongside peers, experiencing a compassionate, interconnected approach to wellness. Partnerships for Change As a founding member of the Veteran Mental Health Leadership Coalition, I am committed to advocating for safe and equitable access to PAT and influencing state and federal legislation. Turning Pain into Purpose We are rewriting the trauma narrative, turning pain into purpose and challenge into change. Together, we aim to facilitate personal growth, resilience, and enduring transformation for our heroes. Join us as we embark on this transformative journey, redefining trauma and unlocking the potential for a more connected, meaningful existence.
