ABOUT ROBERT T. DE FOREST

Delivering real estate projects that are difficult by nature and meaningful by design. My work spans affordable housing, brownfield redevelopment, land-based retreat centers, and parks and conservation—often in constrained environments shaped by short-term incentives and fragmented governance. A consistent thread is the need for alignment across capital, policy, and long-term stewardship. I’m drawn to projects that must hold together over time—not just physically, but in what they stand for. That includes not just development, but how capital, governance, and relationships are structured to carry purpose without erosion. There’s no shortage of critique in the world—but far fewer people are working to build what’s better. I believe real estate development, done well, is one of our most underused tools for shaping a more meaningful and durable future.
