ABOUT ROBERT BLAUSTEIN
I am a physician scientist/cardiologist with extensive experience in basic research, clinical cardiology, and cardiovascular drug development. • My clinical development experience encompasses 16+ years of clinical cardiovascular research across Phases 1-3 in pharma/biotech developing novel therapeutics targeting hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, heart failure, hypertension, atherosclerosis, and atrial fibrillation, and I have led a team at Merck through the global filing and approval of vericiguat for the treatment of heart failure. I have expertise in cardiac safety and previously chaired the Merck Cardiac Safety Board.• My areas of basic scientific expertise include neuroscience and biophysics, with a focus on ion channel structure and function, including ion channels formed by bacterial toxins (e.g. anthrax, diphtheria, botulinum) and their role in bacterial pathogenesis.• I have participated in several executive leadership programs including a Merck-Wharton Business School course and the Center for Creative Leadership “Leading for Organizational Impact: Looking Glass Experience” course
