WORK HISTORY

Feb 2023 — Present

Senior Programme Manager @Laudes Foundation

Amsterdam, NL

As senior programme manager in the Built team of the Laudes Foundation, I co-lead a high-performance, diverse team of political economists, lawyers, architects, social change activists and engineers accelerating the transition to low-carbon, low-waste and inclusive real estate and construction sectors. We work with partners in industry, policy, finance and civil society to address the dual crises of inequality and climate change, inspiring and challenging the sector to raise ambition, accelerate action and widen perspectives to encompass marginalised and vulnerable communities. At Laudes we harness the power of business for good, by targeting root causes and the actors that influence ‘demand’, such as governments, cities, investors, asset owners, developers, designers and insurers. We work actively with changemakers and innovators to accelerate the move towards a zero-carbon and regenerative built environment, while improving social equity in the spaces that shapes people’s lives.

ABOUT RICHARD BOYD

I work to make the construction and real estate sectors ready for a carbon-constrained future and for a circular economy. I have worked in design, construction, research and consulting contexts, but I am learning all the time. Wherever I work I identify the real blockers to change and work with systems change methods to drive action across industry, finance, policy, with workers and for communities. I am excited and privileged to work across the diverse nations and communities of Europe, to help accelerate the transition to a low-carbon, low-waste, just and equitable built environment. My process is driven by an intrinsic motivation to achieve real and lasting emissions reductions, and is informed by my diverse experience in manufacturing, engineering design, international development, construction and research. In my work I use my skills in coalition building, organisational development, stakeholder engagement and workshop facilitation to guide diverse groups of actors towards our shared goals.
