About Rachel White

As a Science Delivery Specialist at the U.S. Forest Service, I deliver science-based information to decision makers. My primary responsibility is to develop products that meet the communication needs of a wide range of audiences, including the general public, policy makers, specialists in different mission areas of the agency, and agency leadership. I work closely with subject matter experts, and also partners including Forest Service unit staff, other agency staff, local government officials, extension, and academics to incorporate science into adaptive management of natural resources. Before my current role, I was a Science Writer Editor at the US Forest Service for over 18 years, where I helped fight the tide of information overload by synthesizing, highlighting, and explaining scientific research for non-science audiences. I also worked as a freelance writer from to 2012. I have developed strong skills in synthesis, plain language communication, and editing, which enable me to effectively communicate complex scientific information to diverse audiences.
