ABOUT VIKRAM SELVARAJ

I\'m a professional with a diverse background in criminal justice, human services, cross-cultural management, human resource management, entrepreneurship, and organizational structures. My Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Canterbury gave me extensive knowledge about criminal justice, human services for children and families, Te Tiriti, personality, and family psychology. I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University College Dublin and a Diploma in Business Administration from PSB Academy in Singapore. To date, one of my most significant achievements has been receiving two Blues Awards for Community Engagement in 2021 and 2022. It was a tremendous honour and recognition of my dedication to positively impacting my community. I am proud to have been recognized for my outstanding achievements and leadership in community engagement initiatives. Advocating for international students, mentoring younger students, and organizing events and outings at the University of Canterbury have been some of the most fulfilling experiences of my life. Through these initiatives, I have been able to build a more inclusive and supportive community, and I am grateful for the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. As the National President of the New Zealand International Student Association, I advocate for international students and liaise with government bodies and student representatives. I also have experience as a Director of Superstar Hairdressing in Singapore, where I managed the business\'s financial flow, headed strategy planning meetings, and oversaw recruitment, training, and performance appraisals for employees. Mentoring is a passion of mine, and I served as a Hōpara Mentor at the University of Canterbury, where I mentored Year 11s, 12s, and 13s, increasing cultural competency to interact with students from different backgrounds. I also served as a Unilife Leader at the University of Canterbury, where I interacted with first-year mature students to ensure their well-being and organized outings and events for students. Overall, I am a dedicated and accomplished professional with diverse skills and experiences, making me an asset to any organization I work with. With my exceptional achievements and passion for community building, I am committed to making a lasting impact on the lives of those around me.
