ABOUT PETER WONG

Transit and Transport planner with extensive experience across the public and private sectors in the public transport industry, including experience at a local government level for community-based bus services. Working from customer service, auditing, monitoring, marketing to bus driver, trainer and coordinating, to then working on transit network design, infrastructure planning, corridor research, timetabling and scheduling, statistics, patronage and operations, I have significant expertise in public transport planning and operations.Prior to returning to Australia in 2010, I had worked on several major transport and transit project in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates for the Abu Dhabi government’s, Urban Planning Council. Project included assistance with the development of the Abu Dhabi Surface Transport Master Plan, growth forecasts for the Abu Dhabi city region and numerous transport and urban planning integration projects on all of the major developments occurring in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.In addition to transport planning, I have also experienced in Urban and Regional Planning including master planning, urban development/redevelopment, urban design, transit oriented development and Pedestrian and Cycling Strategies. Prior to major transport planning projects, I worked in the public transport operation sector working as a transit planner/scheduler for a major bus operated in Adelaide. Work included major alterations to more than 70% of Adelaide public bus network.Specialties: Public transport (bus, light rail, metros and heavy rail) planning and integration, urban planning (strategic, master planning and policy development), public transport forecasting and cost estimating and daily public transport operations I also have and maintain my public transport licence and have operational/driver experience which provides a detailed knowledge in the operations of public transport services from a customer, operator and planner perspectives.
