ABOUT TRACY WHITE
Tracy is currently the System & Safety Assurance Manager Arup (Transport and Rail), with responsibility for a number of projects across Australia including significant projects for the Sydney Metro and stations, Rollingstock modifications, remote electrical isolation, as well as other minor project including upgrading four TfNSW stations to provide improved accessibility. In the last few years Tracy led the system and safety assurance on a number of rail projects across Australia including delivery of Martin Place Metro Station (MMP) and Western Sydney Airport Line Stations, Systems, Trains, Operations, and Maintenance (SSTOM) project. Additionally, Tracy has lent his skills in supporting the development of the safety arguments justifying the U-Trough Elevated walkway and positions of life safety solution as well as a SIL determination for a busway tunnel project. Most recently Tracy delivered the GSN safety case which underpinned the accreditation application for the Rail Commissioner to take back responsibility for running both trains and trams on the Adelaide Metropolitan Rail Network; this was ultimately successful with SAPTA commencing the running of those services in 2025.Whilst Tracy began developing his skills and experience in system safety serving as an Aerospace Engineer when on secondment to DERA (Defence Evaluation Research Agency) as a System Safety specialist advisor, his recent experience has been exclusively in rail. During his time at DERA he began his studies at the University of York studying Safety Critical System Engineering ultimately leading to the award of a Masters Degree. Over his career Tracy has taken the opportunity to apply his considerable system safety skills, begun in the aerospace world, to alternative engineering domains, including: Railways, Maritime, Sub-maritime, and Offshore PetroChem facilities where he was able to provide fresh eyes and application to a common system safety problem; the most advanced of these domains has being rail.
