About Paul Uhrig
Over 30 years, I\'ve been at the intersection of healthcare, law, and technology during some of the industry\'s most consequential inflection points — and I\'ve learned that the hardest problems in healthcare rarely have purely legal, technical, or policy solutions. They require all three, working together. At Surescripts, I helped build the country\'s first nationwide health information network from the ground up — creating the legal, regulatory, and financial architecture that connected nearly every U.S. pharmacy and provider, drove e-prescribing adoption from under 1% to near-universal, and scaled the company to $250M+ in revenue handling billions of transactions annually. At Bassett Healthcare Network, I led legal, compliance, and digital health innovation for a five-hospital rural system — bringing cutting-edge AI and technology partnerships to one of the country\'s most underserved patient populations. What I do now — and what I\'ve always done — is help organizations navigate the places where strategy, regulation, governance, and technology collide.I work with health systems, digital health companies, and the investors backing them across four lanes:AI Governance & Trust: Model risk, accountability frameworks, vendor controls, board readinessRegulatory & Policy: Regulatory strategy, advocacy positioning, AI policy impactInteroperability & Data: Information blocking, TEFCA, trust frameworks, AI-ready data strategyEnterprise & Provider Adoption: Contracting risk, implementation friction, AI diligence, clinical trustI serve on the boards of The Sequoia Project and the New York eHealth Collaborative, and have held board leadership roles at DirectTrust, The Commons Project, and others. My legal training and experience helps me spot risk early. My C-suite experience means I never lose sight of the business and opportunity for growth.
