ABOUT PAULO ZAGALO

Paulo Pereira Zagalo is a Colonel of the Portuguese Army. Being graduated from the War College received a master’s degree in Military Sciences and is PhD candidate on Military Sciences, International Relations. He is graduated on Civil Crisis Management and on Strategic Analysis, Geo-economics and Prospective from the National Defense Institute and is an investigator to the Military Academy, to the Military University Institute and to the Joaquim Veríssimo Serrão Investigation Centre. Served at the Headquarters of the European Rapid Operating Force (EUROFOR) in Florence, Italy, as Operational Procedures Section Chief and subsequently Head of the Plans Branch (20••••08). From December 2006 to June 2007 he served as Deputy Joint Operations Center and Shift Director in the Operation ALTHEA, at the EUFOR HQ in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was representative of the Army to the NATO working group on Land Capabilities (20••••14). After a commission as Coordinator of the Defense Cooperation Program in Timor-Leste (20••••20), he was Deputy Director at the Personnel Services Directorate, Military Sciences Department Chief, and his last military job was Dean of Academics at the Military Academy. He retired from the active duty on 31DEC24.
