ABOUT PAULA MENDES CALDEIRA
I build tools to help people weather the weather.At Guarda, I’m building climate insurance for the Brazilian farmers who feed the world. Our goal: make it as simple as buying seeds.Before this, I co-founded Plugify, a circular economy fintech that rents phones and laptops for all kinds of businesses. We listed Brazil’s first hardware-backed securities and doubled that capital into cheap and green access to tech. Plugify was selected 3× by Endeavor and is now part of Grupo Porto.I started out in private equity and investment banking, moving $10B+ across energy, timber, infra, and other real assets at BTG, BofA and Moelis.On the side: mildly obsessed with space, DeFi, and how consciousness fits into all of this. Between spreadsheets and satellites, I have also been working on an MLA in Sustainability at Harvard. Always up for swapping notes on building or life’s weirder questions. Bonus points if pão de queijo is involved.
