Appointed UNESCO Artist for Peace in recognition of my ongoing efforts to protect and celebrate Indigenous heritage, particularly the cultural identity of the Wayuu people, by the Office of the Goodwill Ambassadors. Promotes cultural diversity through global advocacy and public engagement. Raises awareness of Indigenous rights and the importance of safeguarding ancestral knowledge and traditions. Supports UNESCO initiatives aligned with the International Decade of the World’s Indigenous People and global cultural preservation.This honor reflects a deep commitment to cultural pride, social impact, and global inclusion.
ABOUT PATRICIA VELASQUEZ
I have spent my career exploring how leadership, purpose, and resilience intersect to create meaningful impact. Growing up in Maracaibo, Venezuela, I learned early the importance of determination, community, and responsibility. Those lessons inspired me to create the Wayuu Taya Foundation in 2002, which supports communities across Latin America by improving access to education, healthcare, clean water, and sustainable development while honoring cultural traditions. Seeing the transformative impact of this work has reinforced my belief that leadership is most effective when grounded in empathy, values, and service.Alongside my humanitarian work, I have worked in film, television, and modeling. I appeared in The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, Arrested Development, and The Curse of La Llorona, and I was one of the first Latina supermodels, appearing on the covers of Vogue, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar, and leading campaigns for brands including Chanel and Cover Girl. These experiences taught me the power of storytelling, cultural connection, and authentic communication, skills I now bring to every keynote and workshop.As a keynote speaker, I focus on helping individuals, teams, and organizations navigate change, embrace authenticity, and cultivate leadership that is human-centered, purpose-driven, and resilient. My talks explore personal transformation, values-based decision-making, and leading with courage in times of uncertainty. I aim to inspire audiences to act with clarity, embrace their potential, and create meaningful impact in their organizations and communities. I have shared this work on stages including Stanford University, TEDx, the Milken Institute, and the Clinton Global Initiative, engaging audiences around the world in conversations about leadership, resilience, and purposeful action.I believe that true leadership begins with self-awareness, empathy, and action grounded in values. My mission is to help others find clarity, embrace their purpose, and lead with confidence so they can make a difference that lasts.
