In the Operational Engineering Team at Transpower, we provide operational and maintenance support for the national grid by providing expertise in protection and automation. Some of my responsibilities include- Review and advise on protection and automation requirements, risks, and implications for configurations, outages, and commissioning- Review and report on protection and automation performance by analysing system incidents- Determine benefits of fleetwide fixes and review protection asset policies for design, procurement, maintenance, and replacement- Provide emergency out-of-hours advice and support for grid operations during system events affecting supply security- Conduct wide area protection studies for major network changes- Prepare and review protection settings, support Service Providers, and provide training and emergency support- Coach and mentor team members, build engineering knowledge, and lead process improvement initiatives.
