ABOUT OTIS WARD
My name is Otis Dean Ward IV, and I am a student at Stanford University. Throughout my academic journey, I have developed a strong technical foundation through multiple summer internships, including two consecutive summers as an IT Rotation Development Program Intern at Pacific Gas and Electric Company through the PG & E University Program. During the summer of 2024, I supported the Salesforce Center of Excellence, where I worked on workflow automation and internal tooling. In the summer of 2025, I returned to PG & E to contribute to the Sherlock 2.0 platform, building and supporting full-stack internal tools that improved operational efficiency across divisions.One of my most meaningful accomplishments began during my final semester of high school, when I partnered with PG & E and filmmaker Joshua Reiman on a short documentary titled Change the System: Building Black Wealth. The film follows my personal journey through the PG & E Economic Equity & Financial Education Pilot Program at the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business and highlights the practical financial literacy skills I gained, including saving, investing, and understanding the stock market. The film received awards at the Alameda International Film Festival and the Oaklandside Event, earned a Webby Awards nomination, and contributed to broader conversations around financial education. Its impact helped inform California Assembly Bill AB 2927, now law, which requires all graduating high school seniors in California to complete a semester of personal finance.
