Organic materials in landfills currently account for 19% of the United States total Methane emissions, a GHG 80 times more effective at trapping heat then Carbon Dioxide. Diverting this waste into aerated composting facilities removes almost all of these emissions while creating a nutrient rich fertilizer, compost. Recent studies have found proper application of compost transforms denuded agricultural land into vibrant carbon and water trapping machines, by some metrics capable of completely offsetting the United States GHG emissions and more then tripling water holding capacity. These numbers are tremendous! And yet only 4% of the United States food waste is currently being composted. My mission is to make our population aware of the power of composting and help those on the cutting edge build financially and ecologically sustainable facilities for its creation.
