ABOUT NUKHBA ZIA

I am a clinician and health systems researcher dedicated to strengthening health systems to deliver high-quality, equitable care to vulnerable populations when and where they need it most.My work has focused on advances in data-driven decision-making across healthcare systems to address service delivery gaps in resource-constrained settings, including Africa and Asia. In addition, I have worked on innovative technological solutions to improve service delivery and care coordination. I work in close collaboration with policymakers and practitioners to ensure research informs policy and practice. My research, supported by the NIH, UNICEF, USAID, and WHO, has been disseminated through more than 60 peer-reviewed publications in leading global health and health systems journals, contributing substantially to the evidence base on rehabilitation, disability, and injury prevention.I employ rigorous mixed-methods research designs and implementation science frameworks to co-design and evaluate interventions that improve population health and well-being, with particular emphasis on community and primary care settings. Through this integrated lens, my focus is on examining the effectiveness of interventions alongside contextual, governance, and systems factors that influence their integration, adoption, sustainability, and scalability within health systems. In addition to my research, I am an experienced educator, mentor, and academic leader. I have held leadership roles in academic program development and research initiatives, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and strengthening global health capacity.
