I’m Nikita Yasenkov — a Data Engineer and Software Developer with a strong foundation in Petroleum Engineering and a growing focus on business impact, product strategy, and scalable software systems.With a technical journey that began in Reservoir Evaluation and Geostatistics, I transitioned from being an end user of engineering software to driving innovation behind it. My early work in spatial numerical modeling, coupled with a master’s degree from Heriot-Watt University, sparked my interest in building tools that solve real-world problems for engineers. That curiosity led me to roles where I could blend engineering insight with advanced software development to deliver measurable business outcomes.Over the past several years, I’ve contributed to high-impact projects across the upstream energy sector — from developing machine learning models for reservoir uncertainty analysis to launching custom-built applications that reduced dependence on third-party tools. Today, I lead the development and optimization of mission-critical economic calculation engines at a major U.S. oil and gas company. These systems forecast multi-billion-dollar production and cash flow scenarios, shaping key business decisions across the enterprise.Beyond my core responsibilities, I’m passionate about automation, AI-driven innovation, and operational efficiency.
