WORK HISTORY
Senior Systems Engineer @Collins Aerospace
Wilsonville, OR, US
In this role, I led the RVS 2.0 Sensor Verification & Validation team, driving the development, refinement, and execution of test cases and test procedures to support formal requirement sell-off. I collaborated closely with cross-disciplinary engineering teams to update system requirements and maintain traceability throughout the project lifecycle, while also conducting ad-hoc hardware and firmware testing to assess system performance, robustness, and behavior. In conjunction with these tasks, I developed detailed documentation on proper configuration and use of test hardware and software across lab environments. A key achievement in this role was leading the integration of Collins software with test-equipment hardware, enabling the use of user-defined Python functions to automate and streamline testing of more than 400 system-level requirements. As a side project to my standard responsibilities, I also performed a trade study to design a production solution for screening distortion coefficients across multiple Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), ensuring no escapes post-installation onto the customer\'s aircraft platform. Additionally, I led the bidding effort for the systems team on a next-generation panoramic sensor by evaluating task complexity, computation factors, and expected design and procurement timelines.
EDUCATION
Oregon State University

SKILLS
ABOUT NICK MEYER
I’m a systems engineer driven by the challenge of designing, testing, and delivering complex aerospace and space systems. With 8+ years of professional experience and an M.S. in Space Systems Engineering from Johns Hopkins University, I thrive at the intersection of technical rigor, mission-critical reliability, and innovative problem-solving.Professionally, I’ve led sensor verification and validation at Collins Aerospace, automating or semi-automating testing of 300+ system-level requirements to streamline development and ensure mission readiness. At Raytheon Intelligence & Space, I oversaw communications payloads in low Earth orbit, producing ruggedization recommendations and managing cross-disciplinary vendor collaboration to guarantee technical accuracy and traceability. My early career at Boeing provided deep flight test experience across a broad range of aircraft and weapon systems, honing my ability to translate high-level requirements into executable test plans and actionable insights.Academically, I’ve tackled technically intensive space projects, from analyzing the impact of solar radiation on crewed missions to Venus to designing satellite constellations for global remote sensing and real-time disaster monitoring. These experiences gave me practical exposure to orbital mechanics, space weather analysis, mission planning, and satellite operations—skills I continue to leverage in professional roles.I am passionate about advancing space technology through robust systems engineering, combining hands-on testing, requirement management, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to deliver mission-ready solutions. I am seeking senior systems engineering, principal engineer, or technical lead roles in the space sector where complex, mission-critical challenges meet innovative solutions.Core Expertise-Systems Engineering & Architecture-Verification & Validation (V&V) of Aerospace & Space Systems-Requirements Management & Traceability (DOORS, Jama)-Test Planning, Execution & Automation (Python, Lab Integration)-Cross-Disciplinary Technical Leadership-Flight Test Planning & Analysis-Space Vehicle Communications Payloads-Sensor Systems & Avionics Integration-Orbital Mechanics, Mission Planning & Constellation Design
