I currently work as a Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor with Ngāi Tahu Holdings, providing HSW support to the Ngāi Tahu Office team. The Ngāi Tahu Office brings together a diverse range of corporate, governance, cultural, and support functions, including Ngāi Tahu Holdings, Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu shared services, and a number of group-wide enabling teams that support iwi, commercial, and community outcomes.My role focuses on strengthening health, safety, and wellbeing systems across an office-based environment that is far from “simple” — one that includes multiple entities, overlapping duties, varied risk profiles, and a complex organisational structure shaped by both commercial and cultural responsibilities. I work closely with leaders, teams, and committees to ensure HSW practices are practical, legally sound, and genuinely support people, not just compliance on paper.At its core, my work is about helping people do good work safely, sustainably, and with care, recognising that effective HSW in a modern organisation is as much about wellbeing, leadership, and trust as it is about systems or controls.
