About Nancie Constandse
Nancie Constandse is an Architect and Life Science Studio Lead at HKS. She collaborates across firmwide sectors and connects people and ideas, and develops solutions to complex laboratory opportunities. Earlier this year, she was named one of the Women of Influence in Construction, Commercial Real Estate, and Design by San Diego Business Journal. Nancie is passionate about Healthier Buildings and Healthier Materials. She is part of the mindfulMaterials A&D working group and Sustainability Champion in the San Diego office. Her LEED AP BD + C and WELL AP accreditations allow her to share this knowledge with others and apply principles to projects. A graduate of California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo’s Architecture program, Nancie became interested in Design Build upon graduation. She has worked for both design and construction firms, giving her a unique perspective and background with which to navigate challenging projects, balance beauty, performance, and budget and contribute ideas for more successful outcomes. She is involved in DBIA on the Steering Committee and a National Product council with ULI. She joined HKS San Diego in 2017 and has helped grow the Life Science practice with key clients such as Easterly Government Properties, Pfizer, and NAVFAC. HKS supports scientific discovery by designing Life Science environments that spark creativity, inspire innovation, and foster collaboration. Our design teams balance the need for rigorous laboratory infrastructure and focus areas with respite spaces where scientists can retreat, recharge, and engage with others. As an interdisciplinary, multi-sector practice, we offer holistic design expertise to our Life Science clients so that together, we can create incubators of intellectual capital that foster learning and discovery.
