Chartered Accountant | Cabinet Member for Finance, Resources & Transformation | Chair, Social Inclusion Committee (Council of Europe)| Strategic Public Sector professional | Gender Equality Advocate | LGA Resources Committee.I am a Chartered Accountant and an experienced public sector professional with a strong background in finance, transformation, and inclusive policymaking. As Cabinet Member for Finance, Resources and Transformation at Wigan Council. My work focuses on strategic financial planning, procurement, contract oversight, and driving innovation in public service delivery to ensure both efficiency and community impact.Internationally, I represent the UK on the Council of Europe, where I serve as Chair of the Social Inclusion Committee and Spokesperson for Gender Equality—advocating for inclusive, equitable policies across member states.My cross-sector experience spans the public, commercial, and voluntary sectors, with particular strengths in public service reform, policy development, and budget management. I previously led Wigan Council’s Community and Family Safety portfolio, working closely with law enforcement, the voluntary sector, and the criminal justice system.I also serve nationally on the Local Government Association’s Resources Committee and have served on LGA City Regions Board, shaping urban policy and championing devolution.In 2016, I was honoured to become the first ethnic minority councillor elected in Tyldesley, Wigan—marking a milestone in representation and equity in local government.In addition to my political and professional roles, I previously served as a Governor at Wigan and Leigh College, supporting further education governance and local skills development.
