Mainstream Product Engineer: Manage and implement multiple sustaining projects. Including but not limited to design, tooling, and process development. I work directly with vendors, material sourcing, purchasing, quality, electroplating, stamping, injection molding, interconnect processing, signal integrity design, application engineering, sales, and customers when in-depth assessments are asked for related to product design and/or application. Mainstream engineering (MSE) focuses on all released products in multiple connector families. All board to board advanced interconnects, discrete wire cable assemblies, and high data rate cables (HDR) are primarily controlled by mainstreams engineering hub when they are not custom application specific. Sustaining product includes managing material coming in and material going out. All components, either sourced or built in-house, roll through MSE for quality control and performance development. Daily activities can include product testing and inspections, tolerance analysis, CAD evaluation, or process improvements. Answering or implementing corrective actions associated with production and customer quality inquiries are a large portion of my product engineering role. These task may or may not be directly linked to my active projects (10-15 projects at any given time). I also control all HDR email traffic sent to MSE for assistance to provide solutions, delegate, or open up projects for these inquiries.
