ABOUT MICHELLE DENNY-WEST

Tax is a constantly changing area becoming more complex every time legislation is changed, despite efforts to \"simplify\" the tax system. I enjoy working with people and businesses to help them navigate this tax minefield, advising on how to structure their affairs in a way that is efficient and makes sense. I work with my tax colleagues across the firm to demystify tax, leading our entrepreneurial tax offering. I am a mixed tax specialist, experienced in and able to advise on most tax issues faced by owner-managed businesses and entrepreneurs. I pride myself in being able to explain complex tax issues to clients in a way they can understand, allowing them to make informed decisions. For any matters I am unable to advise on personally, I can draw upon the extensive knowledge and experience of Moore Kingston Smith\'s large team of tax specialists. As a firm, we can advise on all tax issues faced by individuals and businesses alike. Background:I began my career as a trainee at Kingston Smith in 2003. Upon qualification, I had a brief stint in Emerging Markets Product Control at Lehman Brothers and then later joined Wingrave Yeats where I gained crucial experience in project work. I returned to Kingston Smith in 2008.Until 2015, I managed a portfolio of corporate and non-corporate clients, ranging from start-ups to international businesses, providing accountancy & audit, bookkeeping & management accounts, and company secretarial services to a varied client base. My clients were spread over a wide range of industries and presented different challenges. Whilst my main focus was on compliance, I was also involved in special work where necessary such as budgeting and general business advice, and became increasingly involved with tax matters. In 2015 I decided to change the direction of my career and specialise in tax. I studied for and gained the CTA qualification, gaining a distinction in the Taxation of Individuals paper. I\'ve been a partner in our Corporate and Business Tax team since 2020.
