Lead architect and principal author of the EWU 2025 SACSCOC Decennial Reaffirmation of Accreditation Compliance Certification Report (CCR).As an integral member of the President’s Executive Cabinet and the University’s senior administrative team, Dr. West maintains direct leadership and operational oversight towards assuring the comprehensive development, implementation, and advancement of the University’s strategic and operational plans to include but not limited to institutional planning, research, effectiveness, process and systems optimization, academic program development support, as well as project and change management practices.Dr. West serves as the University’s primary administrator (Chair) responsible for coordinating cooperative cross-divisional efforts in leading the University’s preparation for its 2025 SACSCOC decennial reaffirmation of accreditation process and visit slated for Spring 2025. Additionally, Dr. West provides direct leadership and management for the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the University’s facilities management, campus master planning, and strategic management of campus capital and construction projects.

He has led or participated in numerous graduate and post-graduate international immersion trips to China, India, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, and the Netherlands to conduct comparative research studies in business and higher education. A U.S. Navy veteran, West served as a meteorologist in Alaska, New Zealand, and Antarctica. He initially supported anti-submarine warfare (ASW) operations in the Aleutian Islands. While stationed in Antarctica and New Zealand, he provided meteorological and ground support to NSF-funded research projects and geological studies conducted by teams of glaciologists from Russia, Germany, Italy, and Ohio State University.West played rugby internationally (New Zealand), collegiately, and semi-professionally, winning a US Rugby Super League national championship in Dr. West earned an Associate of Arts degree from the University of Alaska; a Bachelor of Arts in human services from Ottawa University; a Master of Business Administration from Loyola University Chicago; and a Master of Science in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. West earned a Doctorate in higher education management at the University of Georgia.Dr. West holds the Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP) credential from APPA. Dr. West and his wife, Steffanie, an accomplished elementary school teacher, have two adult sons.
