Having spent a significant portion of my career leading organizational quality and improvement initiatives, I’ve gained great appreciation for what it takes to be a transformational leader. While it’s very true that leading through influence – as opposed to authority – may be difficult at times, the “more for less” and “new for less” realities of today’s world deliver a constant reminder that we must rethink what, why, and how things are done. Considering the political, budgetary, and regulatory pressures facing organizations today, it’s evident that these questions need to be answered thoroughly to ensure that value is not lost through the delivery of poor products and services, nor through poor customer experiences.
