ABOUT MICHAEL F. KAUFMAN

Michael Kaufman is a partner at Chicago-based architecture firm Goettsch Partners. He typically serves as the managing partner on projects, leading and coordinating large design teams. With more than 40 years at the firm, his experience ranges from corporate and commercial office buildings to hotels, academic and institutional facilities, and renovation and repositioning assignments. Recent work includes One Chicago, a 2.2mm SF Mixed-Use Residential Complex, Mennica Center a 1mm SF Office Complex in Warsaw, Poland, McCormick Marriott Marquis, a 1,204 room Convention Hotel in Chicago, Northwestern University’s new signature building for the Bienen School of Music in Evanston, Illinois; the renovation of the Wrigley Building; Hyatt McCormick Place Expansion and Renovation, the Lincoln Park Zoo Regenstein Center for African Apes in Chicago; JW Marriott Hotel, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Grand Hyatt luxury hotels in Mumbai, São Paulo, and Bogota, Columbia; and the adaptive reuse within Mies van der Rohe’s IBM Building as the five-star Langham Chicago hotel. Mr. Kaufman further leads the firm’s renovation and repositioning work, which includes more than 60 projects spanning early and mid-20th century buildings throughout downtown Chicago and other select locations in the Midwest and overseas.Mr. Kaufman is a LEED Accredited Professional and a past Vice President and former member of the board of directors at the University Club of Chicago. He is a past board member and President of the Design Professional Risk Control Group and a past board member the Glessner House Museum.Mr. Kaufman received a Bachelor of Science degree in architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
