About Mia S.

Hello, If I have requested to connect with you, then your work or recent experiences inspire me. I like to connect myself with like-minded individuals in the realm of the environment, artificial intelligence, public health, and policy. My passion is finding the balance between national interests and global responsibilities, ensuring that we protect our shared planet for future generations. My work focuses on plastic pollution and the role of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, in environmental governance, with an emphasis on ensuring that affected communities and young people are meaningfully included in decision-making. I approach climate and environmental policy as a collective challenge that requires structural political and economic solutions, rather than a focus on individual responsibility. As a youth advocate and researcher, I bring strong qualitative and quantitative research, leadership, and communication skills to support a democratically anchored green transition. My experience includes projects on plastics, fisheries, and public environmental governance, as well as participation in high-level research initiatives and international conferences. Most recently, I attended UNEA-7 and INC-5.2, where I conducted research on stakeholder engagement, global plastics governance, and the use of artificial intelligence in international environmental policy processes. I aim to bridge science and policy and contribute to equitable, evidence-based solutions within international organizations and civil society spaces. In addition to my research and advocacy work, I currently serve as a Legislative Assistant in the Maryland General Assembly in the office of Delegate Michele Guyton (District 42B), Vice Chair of the House Environmental, Transportation, and Energy Committee. This experience has strengthened my understanding of how environmental, energy, and transportation policy is developed and negotiated at the state level, and has reinforced my commitment to inclusive, evidence-based governance that connects local concerns with broader environmental and climate objectives.
