ABOUT MERVE KARTAL
I am a fundraising and communications specialist with experience in various fields, including content creation, news and project writing, and digital media. I have worked in the civil society sector for fourteen years. Above all, I am committed to promoting freedom of expression and continuing to contribute to the efforts of civil society organizations and journalists in Turkey toward this goal. I have significant experience in developing and implementing democratic support mechanisms for activists, civil society organizations, and journalists. I provide guidance to journalists on networking, organization, visibility, and fundraising. Currently, I work in the Third Party Funding Office at the Hertie School, based in Berlin. In this role, I am responsible for administering funds and projects, with a specific focus on fundraising projects and endowed professorships. I hold a Bachelor\'s degree in International Relations from Dokuz Eylül University, a Master\'s degree in Journalism from Ankara University, and a second Master\'s degree in Digital Journalism from Media University, from which I graduated in 2024. I endeavor to write stories from both my hometown and Berlin.
