Melanie is a Senior Vice President in Heitman’s North American Portfolio & Asset Management group and Head of the Multifamily, Single-Family Rental, and Build-to-Rent asset management teams. Her responsibilities include direct oversight and leadership of the sectors’ asset management teams by implementing consistent standards and best practices to be utilized across the firm’s various portfolios. Melanie is also involved in the organization and oversight of the internal asset management quarterly valuation process to provide insight to the portfolio management teams. She also works with the teams to develop and monitor strategic business plans and budgets, leverages the firm’s robust multifamily data platform to manage property leasing strategies, and oversees all third-party property management relationships. Prior to her current role, Melanie had direct asset management responsibilities for a large portfolio of multifamily and retail assets, working with several of the firm’s separate accounts and funds. Melanie started her career at Heitman in investor accounting and spent several years in an acquisitions role focusing on investment in single assets, portfolios of assets, and formation of joint venture investments. Melanie holds a BA and MS in Accounting from the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University.
