   Waste Characterization• Leading an effort to understand how waste is characterized in the US. Analyzed 125 waste characterization studies to categorize how states and municipalities characterize and define materials in their waste stream. Literature Reviews and Technical Writing• Used Tires. Co-leading a literature review to quantify the amount of used tires found in Washington, understand how they are managed, and to identify alternative sources to used tires. Drafting a 100+ page summary report for the Washington Legislature to assess environmental pathways of 6PPD/q in used tires. Led a working session with over 100 stakeholders in attendance.• Lithium-Ion and Alkaline Batteries. Led literature review to identify data about alkaline and lithium-ion batteries generated in the US. Collecting these data points is a crucial first step for the team’s overall goal of modeling the amount of these batteries generated and managed by pathway in the US. • PFAS and Plastics. Lead researcher for two reports related to PFAS and plastic contamination in food waste. Developed the methodology for comprehensive literature review including an Excel workbook to track all search terms, databases, sources, and relevant information from each source. • Cost of Consumer Food Waste. Identified available datasets to estimate the amount of food wasted by consumers in the US, and average food commodity prices. Published a 17-page summary report of findings.• Frozen vs. Fresh Food Waste. Conducted a literature review to identify sources about fresh and frozen food waste in the US to gauge the data gaps, research gaps, and estimated environmental impacts. Drafted one section in a 25-page memo about current estimates of wasted fresh and frozen food in the US.• C&D Waste from Natural Disasters. Leading a team of 3 conducting a literature review to assess deconstruction and AI approaches to handling C&D waste from natural disasters.
