ABOUT MATHEUS NUCCI MASCARENHAS

I am a proud Brazilian, motivated to generate positive social impact in my country.At Yale, I plan to study Global Affairs & Economics, with a Certificate in Chinese Studies. My academic interests range from Economic Development of Latin America, to Complex Governmental Systems and Brazil’s commercial relations with China. I currently serve as the Secretary-General for the Yale Model United Nations Brasil, the largest High School MUN Conference in Brasil. In parallel, I am also Vice President of External Relations for the Yale Global Strategy Consulting Club, the largest student-run organization focused on governments and NGOs. Finally, I am in my second term as President of the Brazil Club at Yale. After graduating, I intend to work in non-governamental institutions or political organizations to craft and implement public policies.Born and raised in Campinas, São Paulo, I studied at Notre Dame School of Campinas. After graduating in 2023, I passed the baton to new leadership of my school’s first student-led club, Papo Reto, the school newspaper, and the socio-environmental initiative Nosso Papel.Before joining Yale University in the first semester of 2024, I began my academic journey at the University of São Paulo Law School. While at USP, I joined the XI de Agosto Legal Department as a Pro Bono Intern, the Arcadas Social Prep School as a Chemistry and Writing Teacher, and the political entity Nexo Governamental as Secretary for Political Relations.
