ABOUT MARTIN O. HAUGAARD

At Danfoss A/S, I am working in the the team that carry out energy screening of our largest energy consuming factories. So far we have been in 11 countries visiting the 26 largest factories in Danfoss. We map the potential energy saving projects available on each factory and implement all of these that can keep a payback period of 3 years or less. So far we have finalised implementing 185 subprojects creating a yearly energy saving of 85 mio. DKK per year. At the same time I collect information about how our technical installations are operated and maintained. When it comes to building new factories I contribute with my knowledge of HVAC and indoor air quality. I participate in an ongoing process where I help to define the standard in terms of energy consumption and energy-efficient solutions to be integrated into the new plants as Danfoss currently is building and will build in the coming years. I collect knowledge about the unfortunate solutions that have been made in the past in existing factories. This knowledge I use to ensure that these mistakes are not repeated. In my previous position at COWI A/S I have gained experience in project management, rich experience in design and supervision of energy efficient HVAC installations in new buildings and refurbishment projects, including factory buildings, homes, care centers, sports halls, schools, science and physics rooms and industrial kitchens. I have worked with general tasks as well as more specialized tasks where I have extensive experience in indoor climate simulations in the program BSim2002 as well as the design and planning of natural ventilation in buildings. In addition, I have worked with planning and design of low-energy houses where I have considerable experience working with architects, to engage in an integrated design process where a building design is planned from a sustainability perspective.
