ABOUT MARKUS MEISTER
I started my career in the middle school with my ethusiasm for natural science, informatics, technology and math.In my last 3 years of school (10-13) I specialized in informatics and math, but natural science was always a strong field. At the University of Oldenburg (Olb) I did my Bachelor and Master degrees in Engineering Physics in the field of biomedical physics. In my Bachelor spezialised in signal processing and control systems. My Master degree was more focused on algorithms and models in the field of Acoustics and Computational Neuroscience. One project was an Blind Source Separation of multi-channeled audio recordings with ICA (in the group of Jörn Anemüller). Another one was the observation of EEG signals during amplitude modulated acoustic stimuli comparing the results to another study, where frequency modulated ones. Here we used different techniques, like ICA, to separate different signals and found similar effects (there where distingue peaks at the modulation frequencies in a certain range.).My Master thesis and work at the working group of Machine Learning (group head: Jörg Lücke) was all about Expectation Maximization on Binary Sparse Coding and Deep Neural Networks in combination with that models.I published an experiment where such a model learned Gabor like structures, similar to the receptive fields in the primary visual cortex, from about 24×24pxl natural Image patches.Since the end of last year, I started a career in Data Science in business analytics at [m]Science (GroupM) a Media and advertising company. I am mainly motivated by the idea of earning a lot of experience in the field of data science. I believe in the usage of sophisticated models and solutions to diverse and typical problems within this and similar fields. The most challenging and interesting part is moreoften the EDA and preprocessing of the data to get a good view of its nature. Sometimes assumptions are only possible by trying specific appropriate models.
