About Mark Parker

I have over 25 years of experience as a RegTech entrepreneur working with health and human services agencies and regulated businesses in 12 states as well as at the federal level. I have worked side-by-side with regulatory specialists in human care, environmental health and pharmaceutical to experience first-hand the unique challenges they face and served as a Board Member and Treasurer for the National Association for Regulatory Administration (NARA)I started my career in the 90s while I was still a student. During summer breaks from college, I helped my dad and brother with their home inspection business where I saw first-hand just how time-consuming and frustrating it was to write-up the same deficiencies over and over again using pen and paper. This was well before the proliferation of the internet and mobile technology. However, I developed a mobile inspection system and by 1996 I was selling it to home inspectors around the country. Not long after, I modified the software to accommodate health and human services regulatory inspections.My company took off as we landed one government contract after another by helping licensing and inspection teams work more efficiently, but over the years I also saw an opportunity to directly help regulated businesses and the communities they serve. The traditional inspection model is fundamentally about catching violations after they have already occurred. But what if, by using historical compliance data and predictive analytics, we could actually help prevent violations from occurring. This would help to improve health and safety conditions and the quality of services provided to vulnerable people.Through our product SansWrite, Outlier Technologies now supports both regulatory agencies as well as regulated businesses. We help regulatory agencies drill down into large and complex datasets. By applying a series of filters, regulatory agencies can visually explore non‐compliance data and identify critical trends and anomalies. With this insight, regulatory agencies can predict the likelihood of future non‐compliances and provide resources, training, and technical assistance to providers.My mission is to help protect those who are unable to protect themselves by providing tools that increase inspector productivity, assist businesses with maintaining compliance, and inform communities about the care of loved ones. In addition to being an entrepreneur, I speak at conferences and to organizations around the country, and in my spare time I’m training for my next triathlon.

   For my full story, with details about each phase of my career, start with my first work experience at the bottom and work your way up. I started Outlier Technologies in 1993 when I was 22 and was the original author/developer of SansWrite. I’m a technology geek and software developer at heart, but I don’t write code anymore.Today I lead a very talented team of men and women who are passionate about the work they do. It was difficult to make the transition from doing the work to managing the work, but it’s rewarding to see what the SansWrite team is accomplishing nowadays.In addition to leading the SansWrite Team, I am focused on building a leadership team, developing strategic partnerships, and planning for the future.
