ABOUT MARK NANKERVIS

I have over forty years\' experience as a structural engineer and design manager across a wide variety of industries. In that time I have led projects for clients in the food and beverage, distribution, water and power industries, and my significant contribution to the engineering industry was recognised with an appointment as a Fellow of Engineers Australia. My roles have included leading large, multi-national design teams on complex projects, particularly large industrial complexes. In these roles I have been responsible for managing a variety disciplines integrating architecture, structure and services, project management, and structural design of buildings and industrial structures.I joined Beca in 1976 and have grown with the company to take on increasingly complex projects across regions and industries. I have spent most of my career working with industrial clients in Australia, most recently working as Technical Director on a number of terminal station projects with AusNet Services. I have also been responsible for structural design work associated with upgrades to over 20 radar towers and three new radar towers throughout Australia. Additionally, I have worked on projects in Asia, including breweries in Myanmar, Vietnam and the Philippines as well as large distribution centres in the Philippines.A project I am particularly proud of is the Victoria Desalination Plant, one of the largest reverse-osmosis desalination plants in the world. For this massive project I led the structural design team for the buildings and structures, with the team based in 12 offices across five countries. I was also involved in supporting construction throughout the project\'s three-year construction period.
