About Marion A. C.
In 2009, I had the privilege of working with the Institute for Liberty and Democracy (ILD) in Peru, founded by renowned economist Hernando de Soto. This experience, focused on the formalization of the informal economy in West Africa, marked a turning point in my career and sparked my passion for sustainable development and resilience building. My journey later led me to the world of evaluation, where I was fortunate to be involved in a project on Indigenous economic participation in Australia. This project introduced me to the vibrant community of evaluators in the country, prompting me to immerse myself in self-study of monitoring and evaluation for several months. Driven by my growing interest, I pursued a second Master\'s degree in Evaluation. Over the years, I\'ve had the opportunity to apply my expertise in program monitoring and evaluation across diverse regions, including Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, and the Pacific. Today, I am focused on practicing evaluation with a deep commitment to ethics, inclusivity, and openness to diverse contexts. I aim to contribute to solving complex, systemic challenges by connecting formal knowledge and informal insights to foster collaboration and adaptability in our ever-evolving world. Beyond my professional work, I am an avid runner, a dedicated yoga practitioner, and I am currently learning Arabic while expanding my knowledge of Nature-based Solutions to address climate change. In 2013, I launched a blog called Far From Africa (https://farfromafrica.wordpress.com/), where I traveled across Australia to capture the unique stories of Africans living there. The project fostered cross-cultural understanding between African and Australian communities. I was honored to be interviewed by Le Petit Journal de Melbourne, SBS National Radio, and Africa Media Australia about Far From Africa. In recognition of my work, I received the Community Initiative of the Year Award at Victoria\'s Parliament House in November 2014.
