ABOUT LORI A. CARTER

Lori A. Carter is an urban planner, community, and economic development enthusiast. Lori has over 30 years’ experience in working in local government in various forms of administration, managing staff and budgets. She specializes in program development, participatory planning, and project management and has extensive experience collaborating with state, federal, and nonprofit agencies. Lori is a successful grant/proposal writer, facilitator, and trainer. Her passion is to help communities thrive and become sustainable environs. While working in the field of urban planning, Lori became a go-to-person for individuals wanting to develop their life dreams. She furthered her training in life and business coaching and have assisted individuals to become business owners, real estate investors, and great community leaders. In 1998, Lori co-founded Maryland Capital Enterprises, Inc (MCE). The organization was established to provide services to Maryland Eastern Shore small business owners and potential owners who otherwise lack the collateral and/or credit to give them access to conventional loans and other financial products. Services include business loans, business consulting, business education and networking opportunities. Lori’s dedication and contribution to public service was recognized by Project Sisterhood and Project Brotherhood, Incorporated for building and developing her community by restoring people to their traditional greatness. She was recognized as an Unsung Hero - Community Developer and Advocacy in the African American Pride publication. One of Lori’s favorite quotes: “Go to the people. Live with them. Learn from them.
