ABOUT LISA TOMPSON

I work at the intersection of research and real-world impact in crime prevention and reduction. With over 20 years\' experience, I specialise in evidence synthesis, mixed-methods evaluation, and spatiotemporal crime analysis - tools I use to generate evidence that informs better policy and practice. I often work as an evidence intermediary, translating complex research findings into practical guidance for policymakers and practitioners. As Co-Chair and Editor for the Crime & Justice Group within the Campbell Collaboration, I help shape global standards for evidence-based justice by overseeing high-quality systematic reviews across a range of pressing topics; from policing to de-radicalisation to youth offending.I’m also an Associate Professor at the University of Waikato at Te Puna Haumaru – the NZ Institute for Security and Crime Science. Here, I support students, researchers, and practitioners to co-produce knowledge that is not only academically rigorous but practically useful.I am especially passionate about work that- bridges academic and policy silos- advances culturally responsive approaches to crime and harm- builds capability in evidence synthesis and evaluationLet’s connect if you’re working on improving the justice system with evidence, innovation, or cross-sector collaboration.
