I am a do-er. I dive in head-first even when the project is ambiguous and maybe something I’ve never tackled before. Rather than feel intimidated by it, I just remind myself that we all start at the beginning. There’s a quote by Mike Dooley I like: “The one thing all famous authors, world class athletes, business tycoons, singer, actors, and celebrated achiever in any field have in common is that thy all began their journeys when they were none of these things.” I love making lists and even more, I love checking things off those lists. Sometimes when I complete a task that wasn’t on my list, I add it just so I can check it off.(come on, there’s somebody reading this right now who totally does this!)When it comes to people, I love conversations and forming relationships by sharing my stories and listening to other people’s stories. And if we can combine it over a nice meal, that’s even better, especially if it gives me a chance to make my Great Grandma’s secret red sauce with tomatoes from my garden – and you can NEVER have too much sweet basil. When it comes to work, I believe in adding genuine value to a consumer’s life through product innovation. I feed off the excitement consumers have for new products and love those “ah-ha!” moments people experience when they witness a product solution to a problem they didn’t even know they had.I don’t settle for the status quo. ‘Good enough’ is not in my vernacular and that means I’m my best self when I’m surrounded by intelligent, driven people who challenge and inspire me. I am always thinking of what could be better or different. What IS the next best thing and how can we do it better than the competition?
