ABOUT LAUREN MCNAMARA

I work as the Outward Student Officer in the International Office in Mary Immaculate College. I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with students and help give them the chance to explore the world and push themselves to see more and do more. I am passionate about my work and giving all students opportunities to explore the world. My background is in research and teaching. I have a PhD and MA in English Literature and have researched and published in areas such as Disability Studies, Poetry and Performance, and PostColonialism. I have taught at third level and supervised a number of undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations. I have also extensive experience as a writer and actress. I write poetry and theatrical work. My writing has been published widely and has appeared on television and radio. I have performed at festivals such as Glastonbury, Electric Picnic and Indiependence, have been a guest performer at Columbia University in New York and have been awarded several awards and residencies. In 2024 I published my debut Poetry Collection \'Quarter Life Crisis\' with Revival Press. I have also given several writing workshops to children, teenagers and adults and am passionate about the power of writing in inspire and empower others and to create change.
