ABOUT LARS BERGSTRÖM

Mr. Bergström is a senior executive with a proven track record in emerging markets equities, capital markets, high-stakes negotiation, and corporate governance. His career spans diplomacy, investment banking, award-winning research leadership, and board-level roles across technology, energy, and transportation. Early in his career, Mr. Bergström served as a diplomat and Head of the Russia Desk at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs’ Trade Department, where he negotiated bilateral trade agreements and built a foundation in international negotiations that has carried into his commercial career. He later became Managing Director for Russia/CIS at Carnegie Investment Bank, where he led capital raises for some of the region’s largest agricultural companies and acted as a trusted intermediary between Chinese, Indian, Russian, and Ukrainian corporates and financial institutions. Fluent in Russian for over 25 years, he has consistently demonstrated the ability to build trust and operate effectively in highly complex environments. As Head of Alfred Berg’s Russia operations, Mr. Bergström managed one of the industry’s strongest research teams, including a Financial Times No.1-ranked equity research unit, and later contributed at the strategic level as a member of ABN AMRO’s Emerging Markets Management Committee. His board experience includes leadership in technology (Soundtrap, acquired by Spotify), energy (EOS Russia, Selena Oil and Gas), and transportation (Aeroflot Russian Airlines, where he was the first foreign board representative for international institutional investors). Mr. Bergström is recognized for his strategic vision, cross-cultural leadership, and ability to deliver results in high-stakes, complex environments. He continues to serve in select advisory and board capacities, with a focus on helping international firms establish and scale successfully in frontier and emerging markets.
