During my time at Safeway, I rose from a Courtesy Clerk to a Person In Charge. As a PIC, I was part of the management team and trusting with running the store in the evenings. The PIC is the acting store manager when the manager or assistance are gone. In this role I was responsible for ensuring the store was presentable, the shelves were fully stocked, displays were clean and orderly, and most importantly, that the rest of the team was working like a well oiled machine.
