ABOUT KELLY SCHUSTER SCHUSTER PAREDES

I am an AI, Data, and Computer Science Technology Specialist with 26 years in K–12 education in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Peru. My work sits at the intersection of instructional design, AI literacy, and hands-on computing. Through Pine Crest and Pine Crest neXt, I help schools adopt emerging technologies with clarity, safeguards, and purpose.At Pine Crest School, I lead initiatives supporting AI literacy, coding, data science, and robotics across divisions. I design and deliver professional learning for faculty and school staff and develop guidance and workflows that make AI tools usable, responsible, and instruction-aligned in daily school operations.I hold a Master’s in Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology and present internationally on AI in education, policy readiness, and design-based computing. I also co-host the Teaching Python podcast and help lead the PyCon Education Summit, creating public, practitioner-driven spaces where educators and developers work on making AI and computer science teachable, explainable, and equitable.Focus areas– AI literacy and responsible use in K–12– Teacher & staff professional learning at scale– Instructional design for emerging technology– Robotics and exploratory learning environments– Policy and implementation frameworks– Translating research into school practiceMost people do not struggle with AI or computer science because they are incapable; they struggle because they were convinced it is not for them. The problem is the myth about who is “allowed” to understand it. I aim to help remove that barrier for both coding and Generative AI.
