The Associate Dean of Health Science provides strategic leadership to advance the effectiveness, visibility, and impact of the College of Earth, Life, and Health Sciences’ health sciences programs. The role ensures unit priorities align with College and UMaine System goals while fostering an inclusive, supportive, and collaborative work environment that strengthens morale, efficiency, and engagement. Acting as a key liaison between the Dean’s Office, health-related units, and external stakeholders, the Associate Dean drives innovation, builds partnerships, and promotes practices that enhance organizational health, research, and academic excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & OversightProvide vision, strategic direction, and administrative oversight for health-related units.Align unit priorities with College and UMaine System goals to maximize efficiency and reduce duplication.Represent the Dean’s Office in system-wide committees, legislative advocacy, and external strategic discussions.Faculty & Staff Well-beingDesign and implement initiatives that foster a supportive, resilient, and collaborative workplace culture using data.Convene cross-departmental groups to co-create and pilot innovative workplace solutions.Model evidence-based practices that strengthen well-being and student success.Collaboration & PartnershipsFacilitate communication among health unit leaders to coordinate resources, share priorities, and develop joint initiatives.Build partnerships with campus units, community organizations, and external agencies to expand program opportunities and enhance the overall impact of the program.Advocate for health sciences education and workforce development at state and system levels.Reporting & AccountabilityProvide regular reports to the Dean and leadership team with recommendations for sustaining and scaling initiatives.
