ABOUT KEITH R. SBIRAL

I serve as a principal and co-owner of Apochromatik, a coaching and consulting firm based in Chicago, Illinois. I bring to Apochromatik a career of management and efficiency work which makes me uniquely qualified to coach and consult in a variety of organizations. In addition to countless hours of professional development in my focus areas, I am a graduate of the Institute of Professional Excellence in Coaching and a certified Team and Leadership Development Coach through the ICF certified Kickstart Your Edge coaching program.Prior to joining Apochromatik full time, I served as the Village Manager for the Village of Brookfield, Illinois for nearly four years. I received the Credentialed Manager designation from ICMA. I served as Assistant Village Manager for nearly nine years. In that role he worked as Director of the Building and Planning Department as well as overseeing the Finance, Information Technology, and Park and Recreation Departments. My work in Brookfield has included restructuring the Village’s former Code Services Department, hiring the Village’s first professional planner, and coordinating the adoption of Brookfield’s two Tax Increment Finance (TIF) Districts, and economic development efforts. I also led a complete restructuring of all Information Services within the Village, including implementing a new ERP, GIS, Exchange, web services, police records management servers, and VoIP phone and networking systems. I also served nine years as the Village Treasurer. Prior to joining Brookfield in January of 2006, I was employed by the Village of Downers Grove, Illinois, first as Planner and then as Director of Planning and Community Development. In Downers Grove, my duties included directing long-range planning activities and facilitating major downtown and commercial redevelopment. Before my service in Downers Grove, I served as Planner/Zoning Coordinator and then Senior Planner for the Village of Barrington, Illinois. I also administered Barrington’s Historic District and GIS. I earned his M.S. in Urban and Regional Planning with emphases in development finance and land use planning from the University of Iowa in May of 2001. I graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa in 1997 with a major in political science and minor in economics.I currently serve as the Chair of the Peters Fellowship Board for the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) and on the executive board as Immediate Past President of the International Leica Society | LHSA.
