ABOUT KAZEEM ABIODUN KAREEM

With a PhD degree in Statistics, I am passionate about applying mathematical concepts and methods to solve real-world problems in various domains, such as data science and machine learning. Through my internship as a Machine Learning Scientist at Expedia Group, I have developed strong skills in big data analytics, machine learning pipelines, time-series modeling, optimization, programming, using tools such as Python, SQL, R, Azure Databricks, PySpark. In this role, I worked on a project to optimize cache time-to-live for flight searches, using machine learning, deep learning, tuning and comparing several cutting-edge ML models. This experience has helped hone my skills in large-scale data manipulation and advanced feature engineering in distributed-computing platforms using PySpark and SQL. My current research involves developing hybrid computational algorithms for high-dimensional data clustering and dimensionality reduction powered by multivariate statistical models. These algorithms are effective in performing various tasks including disease subclassification, computer vision, and image compression. I have also gained valuable teaching and research experience as a Graduate Teaching Instructor at MTU, where I teach Calculus and Differential Equations to undergraduate students, grade scripts, and proctor exams. I am eager to learn more and explore new opportunities in the fields of statistics and data science, where I can contribute to innovation, discovery, and impact.
