ABOUT KAYLA HAYDEN
I\'m personally and professionally a bit of a wild card, but I\'m the kind that you want to have in your deck. I grew up a bit shy and reserved - I was into theater, was a dean\'s list student in high school and college, was on Varsity debate in high school. I majored in communication and minored in theater, envisioning that I\'d work in advertising and write Super Bowl commercials for a living. Then I graduated from college during a recession. I was underemployed for the first 10 years of my career, but had some great experiences. I assisted REI members in recovering long lost accounts and stolen dividends, hired for their call center, and helped open a store in San Antonio, Texas. I sold shoes at Nordstrom. I made connections with customers while making drinks at Starbucks. I oversaw beer sales and inventory for events, including the Seattle Beer Festival. I managed Boeing\'s metal inventory and sales for companies building parts for their planes. The list goes on, but those were the highlights. All the while, I craved a job where I\'d be excited to get up on Monday morning to start my work week. In 2017, I started my current role as a Transition Specialist at Hire Heroes USA. I finally am living my dream and working where I can make a difference. To date, I have assisted over veterans/military spouses in finding employment in their desired fields. It\'s not an easy job, but it is a rewarding one. I\'ve earned the privilege of going beyond my role - I train and mentor onboarding peers, help create content that is distributed both internally and externally, and assist in improving our internal processes to make our client experience better. I might have one job title, but I wear many hats - this resulted in me receiving an Impact Performer Award for 2022, given to the top 10 employees in my department. I haven\'t had a conventional career path, but with every job I\'ve had, I\'ve brought my determination, tenacity, and desire to leave things better than I found them. Outside of work, I am a mom of 2, a wife, and a former softball player turned tackle football player - I play both defense and offensive line for the Capital Pioneers. I enjoy comedy, good music (any genre), karaoke, bowling, and baking.
